At the start of each month I like to set myself a list of goals for the coming weeks, a monthly bucket list if you will. I have found that it really helps to keep me on track and by publishing it on the blog there is an element of accountability that gives me the proverbial kick up the butt needed. I got the idea from the lovely Beth at twinderlemo.co.uk who hosts a linky for this purpose each month and I have found it invaluable. I like to keep a mix of blog/family/life/home goals to keep life balanced. Each month I will quickly recap how I got on with the previous months goals before listing the goals for the month ahead.
October Round-Up
Family
- Do something together as a family every weekend. Done. Sometimes it was as simple as a walk with the dogs or a movie night, but we made the most of our time all together.
- Two night’s away with the hubby!!!! Done. It was amazing and I really need to write a post about it.
Home
- Finally paint patio doors and outside kitchen windowsill. Not quite. It’s getting done tomorrow though so I’m crossing it off the monthly list.
Blog
- Start posting to Pinterest. Done. I’ve only put a couple on so far though and I’m still not quite sure what I’m doing so this needs more work.
- Start posting to StumbleUpon Done, but as with Pinterest I’ve only done a few and still need to work out what I’m doing.
- Continue working on a blog schedule. I have an idea for a regular Monday series which I’m excited about. Done for now. Monday’s is my Words To Live By series, Saturday is a Happy Days post, Sunday is My Sunday Photo. Other posts such as days out and reviews will go up on a Wed/Thu/Fri.
Me
- Keep up the exercise. I was until I put my back out and then half term arrived so I need to get back to it again.
- Lose enough weight to justify buying some new jeans. Big fat no as the exercise went out of the window again, but the hubby did buy me a new pair of jeans anyway as a surprise (i know, he’s amazing).
November Goals
Family
- Go to a local firework display.
- Make the most of the last month we have with hubby before he heads back to sea again till the start of Feb .
Home
- Decorate L’s room and finally get her into a big girl bed. I actually ordered her new bed today and I am super excited as it’s awesome, she’s one lucky little lady.
- Clean the leather couches as they’ve been a bit neglected as of late.
- Possibly buy a new sofa for the back room.
Blog
- Keep on trying to figure out Pinterest and StumbleUpon.
- Interact more on Instagram.
- Write about our two night’s away.
- Write up our days out posts from half-term.
Me
- Get back to exercise again.
- Relax and stop feeling guilty about not posting enough/spending too much time blogging when I could be spending it with family. I need to just let go and go with the flow a little more.
How about you? How did you get on in October? Did you achieve all you set out to? What are your plans for November?
I love the idea of this monthly blog post and reviewing each month – I try to do this offline but putting it on my blog would give me some form of accountability so I may actually achieve more than one thing on the list! Good luck with your November goals x #DreamTeam
Thank you, the accountability thing is the only thing that gets me to tick so much off!
I like how you broke up your goals into categories. I need to sort out my haphazard thinking BIG TIME.
LMK what you come up with in Stumble and Pinterest…
I struggle with those a bit as well!

Well done you for setting monthly goals. I love this idea, but I know I’d never get anything ticked off, that said you’ve certainly given me food for thought #bestandworst x

Thank you, the accountability factor is the only reason I manage to get things ticked off!
Oh you did so well, you put me to shame! What a lovely hubby buying you the new jeans. I like the sound of your new Monday series, I’ll keep an eye out for that! Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉

Thank you, the hubby certainly has his moments. Hope you like the series if you catch it x
I love this idea of a monthly bucket list. Plus blogging about it would probably mean I’d be more likely to get the things done – it’s like having someone to answer to! I’ve just signed up to Stumbleupon and am trying to get to grips with it too…no idea what i’m doing! #ablogginggoodtime
The accountability factor is definitely what gets me to ticking things off. If you figure out Stumbleupon let me know! X
Oh I don’t really get stumble upon either of you crack it please feel free to share. And yes please do write a post about your nights away it must have been fab. Good luck with next months list and hope you’re back gets better soon xx

Thank you. Good luck with your goals, I don’t think I’ll ever keep on top of housework!
What a fab idea to have a monthly bucket list. I could do with something like this just to motivate myself! I hope you made it to a bonfire display this weekend. Thank you for linking to #momsterslink

Thank you, it helps keep me on track. Yes, we did thank you and it was fantastic. Hope you’re having a great weekend x
Sounds like you’ve been doing great work at keeping to the goals, I may join you in this as i love setting goals and it gives me a nice guide line to stick to. I also feel a bit guilty when i don’t blog a lot but learning to take also go with the flow! good luck and thanks for the inspiration 🙂 #TheListLiky
Thank you. It’s proved a real boost to my motivation to tick things off. Going with the flow is proving difficult but I’m working on it x
Good luck with your goals for the month! Both ambitious and (hopefully) rewarding. As for going with the flow – I think that’s key. Goals are important, but also knowing what you can feasibly do (and not do) and being okay with that.
Thank you, going with the flow is going to be the hardest goal on the list but I’m trying x
I’m a goal-setting list-making type-a from way back. It’s hard xoxo.
I love how you broke your list into categories. You had a good October, hope your back is better. I love your list for November, I hope you managed to get to a firework display this weekend. #monthlybucketlist
Thank you, the back was better till today when I trapped a nerve in my shoulder! We went to a fantastic display on Friday. Hope you’ve had a good weekend x
Ou it’s lovely to have such a neat list! Mine are random bits of paper screwn about the house! But usually stuff only gets done if it makes it to paper! You are super organised 😀 Thanks for linking up #FabFridayPost
Ha ha, I’ll show this to the hubby, it’ll make his day. I’m the most unorganised person on the planet and he’s the exact opposite. I forget absolutely everything. The only reason I get half of this done is because it’s online so 1) I can’t lose and 2) everyone will know if I don’t – always a great motivator x
A monthly list sounds like a good idea. I might have to include things like “brush hair” on mine though! #EatSleepBlogRT

My daughter hid mine and I haven’t even attempted to look for it, hair brushing is overrated x
Wow! You have already achieved so much! I look forward to reading all about it on our update. Thank you so much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost. 🙂 x
Thank you, fingers crossed I can keep the momentum going x
I love the monthly goals. I started putting them on my blog without realizing it is a thing to do 🙂 October wasn’t too bad – it was my first month of blogging so I am still spending almost each evening writing and working out the tech, social platforms, etc so can’t wait until I get some kind of routine. Excersise is also one of my things to carry on from October as I didn’t do as well as I set out to. No jeans for me sadly 🙂 x #TheLink

Well done for getting your first month in. I’m 3 and a half months in now and I’m starting to relax a little and realise I don’t need to learn it all at once. I still don’t have a great routine yet though x
Ah this is lovely – I love doing this too and reminding ourselves what we have to look forward to! Hope you have a wonderful month 🙂 Thanks for linking up to #dreamteam Apologies for the late comment this week xx

Two nights away sounds AMAZING! It’s so deserved too as kids can be bloody hard work!
I love the transition to “big bedrooms” and choosing all the schemes etc. I must start execising regularly too. Thanks so much for linking again xxx

Sounds like a fun couple of months, I am still trying to get to grips with Pinterest, I just can’t seem to get my head around it! I hope the fireworks were lots of fun!
Thank you, I’m still making much headway with it to be honest, hopefully in the new year!
